Micronit has been a world leading supplier of a variety of glass-based standard microfluidics chips for more than a decade. Besides glass chips, Micronit is pleased to offer 2 types of our standard chips made from polymer; the R- and H- microreactors. Next to producing standard polymer chips Micronit also offers prototyping and product development for polymer as well as glass products.
Together with CEA-LETI in France, Micronit has successfully applied for an European ENIAC grant for the MFManufacturing project, bringing together companies, institutes and universities from France, The Netherlands, The United Kingdom and Germany. Micronit will be coordinating this 18.6 M€, 3-year project, which is aimed at standardization in the microfluidics field, as well as the establishment of a virtual Distributed Pilot Line for the fabrication of microfluidic devices and systems. Standardization will be approached in its broadest sense, not only looking at interconnections, but also at process integration and compatibility, thereby promoting both interoperability of a wide range of microfluidic functions and alignment of manufacturing processes.
The overall ambition of MFManufacturing is therefore to increase the maturity of the microfluidic market and technology, along the lines of the development of the microelectronics field, such as illustrated below.
ELECTROCHEMICAL IMPEDANCE SPECTROSCOPY (EIS) CHIP
Micronit has developed an Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy chip for the accurate detection for particles or cells as they pass between the electrodes.
The specially designed out-of-plane electrodes achieve a more parallel and uniform electric field when compared to in-plane electrodes. This increased field uniformity enables better particle detection by data acquisition systems. Micronit has also developed an interfacing system based on the Fluidic Connect PRO platform, featuring both fluidic and electrical interfacing to the chip.
A complete package is offered in combination with Fluigent’s accurate flow control systems and the data acquisition system of our development partner Zurich Instruments.
The dimensions (45x15mm), electrode layout and hole pattern for the EIS chips developed for the EIS Platform are fixed. The channel heights and widths are customizable and may be different from our current standard values of 28µm and 30µm respectively.
The lead time will be less than 2 weeks for the standard available designs and less than 6 weeks if you need customized channel heights and widths.
The creation of a fully customized EIS chip is of course possible, however additional design and development will be required.
