For a customer in the analytical chemistry, Micronit Microfluidics developed wet-etching techniques to create structures for trapping particles and/or cells (see image - figures are in µm). For these structures no additional processes, nor other etching techniques are necessary. The structures can simply be incorporated in the custom made glass chips.
| Chip size | at least 5 x 5 mm |
| Material | glass |
| Technique | HF etching |
| Channel width | 10 µm - 600 µm |
| Channel depth | 10 µm and 20 µm |
| Particles held by trap | depending on specs, but > 1.0 µm |
Special features:
Application
Thanks to the particle traps, for instance, clotting in a mixed channel can be held. The residue can be used for new chemical reactions in the chip. Dependable on the size of the particles the muzzle in the above figure of the particle trap can be made wider, to prevent clogging. The size of the trapping depends on the depth of the channels.
Capabilities
Micronit is capable of making complex particle traps in microfluidic devices of 10 x 10 mm or even smaller. Eventually we can integrate electrodes to measure the particles.
