Microfluidic EOF Kit 4515e

Microfluidic EOF Kit 4515E

Standard Micronit Electrode Chips

LabSmith HVS 448

EOF Kit 4515E is suitable for applications requiring electro-osmotic flow (EOF) in combination with conductivity, electrochemical or fluorescence detection. The kit enables, for instance, to carry out capillary electrophoresis experiments based on EOF. Integrated electrodes facilitate the measurement of changes in the conductivity of the liquid in the channel on the microfluidic chip. Two chips are included in the kit.

The kit contains 2 glass chips with integrated platinum electrodes, a chip holder and high voltage cables. The bottom of the holder is open, making it possible to put it on an inverted microscope for optical inspection or detection.

Chips
The EOF Kit 4515E is compatible with chips containing on-chip electrodes. Maximum size of the chip is 45 x 15 mm. Standard, the kit is supplied with one chip of 30 x 15 mm and one 45 x 15 mm chip.

High Voltage

Four high voltage leads are attached with screw connections onto the bottom plate of the holder. The cables are supplied with SHV-BNC plugs, that can be connected directly to a LabSmith high voltage sequencer or compatible high voltage power supply. The LabSmith HVS448 8-channel high voltage sequencer is fully programmable and is capable of switching high voltages in milliseconds. The latest model can supply voltages between -3 kV and +3 kV. For more information on this device please take a look at www.labsmith.com.

Four additional cables can be connected with screw connections to facilitate conductivity or electrochemical detection.

Safety

The integrated safety interlock switch ensures that the high voltage sequencer cannot be started without the cover placed on the holder (in combination with a LabSmith high voltage sequencer or compatible high voltage power supply with an interlock feature).

Conductivity Detection

As miniaturized spring connections are integrated inside the chip holder, a conductivity detector can be connected for contact or contactless conductivity detection. This offers a relatively simple method to detect the separated zones on a microfluidic chip.

In order to measure the conductivity changes in the liquid, dedicated electrodes are integrated in the chips included in the kit. As there is an elimination of the platinum wire electrodes in the chip holder itself, the risk of sample carryover is reduced.
