Microfluidic design is an essential part in the product development and prototyping.  Microfluidic designs can be supplied in CAD or as a back-of-the-envelope sketch of a channel design to get started and work towards the product design you need. For an optimal microfluidic design process existing products and experience are used to accomplish the goals of the project. For fast realization of the designed product Micronit has a wide range of capabilities in-house.

Microfluidic design

Designers can calculate and engineer device layers, functional components and special features in a wide range of microfluidic chips or products. A substantial part of all product designs is the compatibility with market standards (standardization) for interfacing and integration.  Micronit has its own tools to optimize microfluidic design features like microfluidic channel design, electrodes, holes, reservoirs or valves. Application related design focusses for instance on droplet microfluidics, microreactor technologies, capillary electrophoresis, mixing structures, PCR or electrical impedance.

Microfluidic design rules

Design and engineering focusses on making microfluidic designs and prototypes closely matching with the intended product, to minimize the need for re-design in a later stage. Designing is always a collaboration between the engineers and technicians of all parties involved. For different processes and techniques a set of design rules is used to improve the understanding of the possibilities for microfluidic designing.

Testing and optimization

Micronit also designs and builds test setups for microfluidic testing, validation and quality control. Engineers can use their experience to test and validate your designs adequately and thus reduce the overall product development time.
